With it being February, it's little wonder that there are many challenges that are Valentine's Day related. To get my Make-It Mojo going, I signed up for a Valentine Card swap at Aunt Peaches ( http://www.auntpeaches.com/ )
At "Unicorn Challenge Blog" the theme was Lots of Love. The little felt hearts have been made with lots of love for generations. Traditionally a Scandinavian Christmas craft, they are perfect for Valentine's Day. They are so easy to make. If you'd like to try them, this blog has great instructions: "Radmegan" http://radmegan.com/2010/12/weaving-danish-heart-baskets-for-jul.html
Natalie and Amy's blog had the challenge of Hearts & Flowers. OK, got the heart... Inside each little heart basket I tucked a spring of a dried flower. Do I get double points since the flowers came from a Valentine's bouquet from my husband? I also put a white ribbon rose embellishment on each heart.
Mixed Media Mojo blog's challenge was Hearts with an optional twist of paper piecing. I stayed with the main challenge of the heart.
Country View Challenge didn't go with Valentine's. Their challenge was "make your own background". On cardstock I dry brushed 'true red' acrylic paint in one direction and when was dry, went in the opposite direction with silver acrylic paint...
And Mixed Media Monthly Challenge finished out my background with their challenge of "use glitter". I used a dusting of a really fine silvery/crystal glitter over the still wet silver paint. Perfect shimmer.
These are the first cards I've made (not counting my photo cards). It was fun and I learned a good deal.
